Hayes Hideaway, The Perfect Lakeside Getaway

Location is great, 5-15 min drive to tons of restaurants and breweries. There were 8 adults and 2 dogs, lots of room for all of us. Beds were comfy. Lots of kitchen utensils, regular coffee maker and Keurig and coffee was supplied. We had a couple of issues while we were there, upstairs heat not working, basement bathroom toilet leaking, Shaun was very quick to respond and to send someone out. Firewood for the fire pit is provided and we enjoyed the outdoor space. Game room was great, bar, full fridge, arcade games and foosball table to keep you entertained. The stairs take a little getting used to as they are higher steps than normal. Overall we had an amazing time and are looking forward to going back!! Thank you Shaun and Suzie!

it was beautiful to wake up every morning with a view of a peaceful lake. The living room was relaxing, the kitchen was well stocked, and the location was convenient to Rochester and to the Finger Lakes.

A nice large house with several bedrooms, clean, everything I needed was there, has 2 refrigerators that were empty and clean, bar/game area in basement, nice living room area, a deck, nice comfy chairs. Huge yard to hang out in, picnic tables, dock. Bluetooth radio with speakers around the house. Nice outside fireplace with plenty of firewood. 2 full bathrooms 1 half. Washer and dryer. We enjoyed our stay free of any issues, went swimming, grilled, played music, had a fire, and hung out. Weather was absolutely perfect for our stay which made it even more enjoyable. Definitely what we were looking for. We had 12 people in our group that stayed the full time we were there and it never felt crowded or uncomfortable, parking was just enough for our group size.

We had a wonderful time at Hayes Hideaway! A lot of space for the adults and kids. The game room was a big hit. The house was clean and comfortable, we felt right at home. Beautiful views from the deck, tons of fun with the kayaks and paddle board. Shaun and Suzie were excellent hosts! Very friendly and responsive. Highly recommended!

I am surprised that there was not a garbage disposal or dishwasher,At this price point everyone that can afford it probably has one. The kitchen pans, pots, electric skillet were absolutely pathetic, well below what we expected. The kitchen in general was not up to the standards I would expect at this price point. The outside light did not work, the outside plug was broken/ half missing. The bathrooms were OK,not great but adequate, the exhaust fan in the upstairs bath could definitely use an upgrade, keeping the window open helped a lot. There seemed to be enough hot water most of the time. The picnic table outside and stairs could definitely use some TLC. The dock did not have boat tie downs or a ladder for getting in and out of the water. The bedrooms were small but worked out OK especially that there were 5. The door on 1 bedroom stuck real bad, the door locks were loose. The kayaks & canoe were nice. The main room was good with plenty of room at the big table. The deck was nice.

Hi Dave, I am sorry for the conditions you experienced in your stay. We inspect everything guests use before their stay to make sure it’s in great condition. We are going to go look this week at everything you mentioned and make it a priority to replace with new items and fix other items. Always know if during your stay you noticed these things you can always contact us and we will send another cleaner or replace items immediately. We appreciate your feedback to improve this cottage.

We had a wonderful stay for our group of 9 at this lake house. The view of the lake was gorgeous. The hosts were extremely responsive. The kayaks and canoe were fun. We rented a pontoon boat and used the dock. It was easy. We would highly recommend this location and place to all!

The house and view are amazing! I would rent this house again in the future. It was so incredibly quiet and peaceful. The air conditioning worked well and the bathrooms are newly updated and clean. Everything was clean. We used the arcade, foosball table and fire-pit daily. There is a great space to entertain in the kitchen and dining area. Easy beach access to the lake including kayaks, a paddle-board and a canoe. Highly recommend!

Our annual girlfriends’ winter weekend got us to travel to Conesus Lake for fun and friendship. We enjoyed the open concept main floor, comfortable furnishings, gas fireplace, and incredible views! The upstairs bedrooms were comfortable and quiet; the ground floor game room and half bath were convenient (sleeping there was quiet and dark). 2 full, spacious baths were great for our large group. The kitchen was well-appointed, with a gas stove, many options for cooking, 2 fridges and freezers (up/down), were helpful; bring your own crockpot. Be prepared to walk on a bit of a hill with a stone pathway to the stairs to the main floor, and for street parking (we fit 6 vehicles). A shovel and salt were provided. Ample firewood, a fire ring, and outdoor seating options were provided and the location did not disappoint!

This was the perfect spot for family from across New York to gather and celebrate an early Christmas together! The younger kids loved the bunk beds and games downstairs. Temperatures were unseasonably warm, so we also got to enjoy the beautiful and ample outdoor space. The kitchen was well stocked, and everything was clean and comfortable. The host was responsive and friendly. I highly recommend this rental and hope to return again next year!

Had a great stay! We were in town for a wedding so had a range of ages staying. This home was perfect, with the variety of water fun, paddle board, canoe…. everyone was entertained. The game room with bar was a hit for all ages too. The outside space was amazing, from the fire pit to the dock area. A great stay, thank you Shaun.

We really had a very nice time. We just feel like for the cost of the cleaning fee that we paid, the cleaners did not do a very thorough job. Maybe they were rushed the weekend we stayed. We are not really picky people, it's just the areas that needed cleaning, were areas you would expect to be thoroughly cleaned in between guests. A few examples, The freezer was moldy in areas withold food stuck in corners, the main Frying pan had eggs stuck on it, and the mattress covers needed a washing. We only noticed the mattress covers when we stripped the beds before leaving, so that really didn't cause us concern while we were there. Just wanted to point it out as a suggestion to clean them before the next renters as I'm sure it's not something that needs to be done on a regular basis. Probably just an oversight. None of these areas were of enough concern to give Shaun a call. We cleaned what we needed and had a great weekend. We would stay again:)

We enjoyed our stay at Hayes Hideaway. Many nearby homes have very little lake front--just a dock. we enjoyed this property's dock, lawn and rocky beach area that gave us multiple ways to enjoy the lake. The hosts were very responsive and always answered questions promptly. The bedrooms were a bit smaller than we expected, but in the end they served our needs well as we spent most of our times in the common areas or on the lake. Our kids enjoyed trying their hands at kayaking and canoeing and relaxed in the hammock. The arcade games were also fun for post-swim breaks and rainy days.

This is a great place to spend summer days on/in/around the water. There was plenty of room for 4 adults and 6 kids in the house, and also a lot of room for them to run around and swim with the long stretch of lakefront.

This was an important vacation for us- our 4 kids and their families together after 3 1/2 years. We enjoyed it so much!! We loved the kayaks and paddle board and swimming off the pier! The fire pit was wonderful and thanks for the wood provided. The deck was shaded in the mornings for coffee time which stretched into hours! Sleeping arrangements worked out well. We put the 4 girls ( cousins 9 and 13 y/o) in the bunk room, all parents in the bedrooms, the boys in the game room on the sleeper sofas. One family stayed up the road at the close by inn and were with us each day. Everyone loved the house-it was so comfortable! It was a great choice for our family.

This was a family vacation with grandkids. The shoreline and dock were perfect for the kids, and allowed us to easily dock, our boat and JetSki‘s. The game room was good to get the kids out of the sun for a while. Needless to say no one wanted to leave.

Shaun is a very responsive host. The cottage was very spacious to fit our family of six & fur babies. It was great to have the game room downstairs for my teenager and when her friends came to visit! The cottage had all the supplies a family will need while away from home!! It was great not having to bring bedding and towels! We can't wait to go back!

Shaun's lake house was a perfect setting for our family to gather and celebrate our daughter's college graduation. So clean, with roomy common areas, comfortable beds, a well-stocked kitchen, games, plenty of outdoor seating--we felt at home right away. The lake view and setting were so lovely and peaceful that one friend said she couldn't believe it. Shaun could not have been more helpful or accommodating, instantly answering questions and extending himself by putting us in touch with a pet sitter for our elderly dog. We are grateful to have made such wonderful memories here and spent extended time with our family. All our thanks to Shaun for such fine hospitality!

SO much fun!!! As two families of 5 of which 4 are teens, we never ran out of things to do. The games room kept us all entertained for hours with shuffleboard round robins and reliving our Space Invader and Golden Tee days! I think the kids’ cell phone usage was at an all-time low:) As noted in some of the other comments, yes, the bedrooms are on the small side but we will take small any day with comfortable and clean beds. If you’re planning to spend time in your room, you’ve booked the wrong trip as you’ll miss out on all the fun this house has to offer. Shaun was an amazing host and so responsive. We hope to be back next year same time!

This location was a perfect place for our group to meet up. We enjoyed both Letchworth State Park and Rochester easily and had a comfortable place to relax and socialize afterwards. We enjoyed a quick canoe ride and one brave person tried the paddle board. There were spectacular sunsets over the lake from next to a fire, the deck or from the large table while playing games. The stairs at this location are steep which isn’t uncommon in older homes but sometimes to be aware or if you have anyone who might have difficulty with that. Overall a great place to relax.

House has a lovely 2nd floor deck and wonderful views of the lake from the family room and downstairs game room. However, the bedrooms are tight without closet space. Parking is on the road and makes it a little tricky for loading and unloading your car. There is a cute little coffee bar in the family room that was a nice touch and the video games, kayaks and hammocks were fun to use.

My friends and I took a trip here. Beautiful house right on the lake. The weather was bad one day but with the perfect basement we were kept busy at the bar and playing games. I totally recommend this for a big group!
