The house was beautiful for a getaway for 12 friends! We loved the screened in porch and spent most of our time there as well as the top floor living area. Beautiful Home and beautiful views!- Jennifer C , Posted: 9/29/2024
Everything was great! The house has everything for a big group, and the environment surrounding the house is impressive.- Felipe F , Posted: 9/20/2024
We had an amazing stay right on the lake! Beautiful location and lots to do for all ages. I would highly recommend!- Juda K , Posted: 9/9/2024
Fantastic views, quiet neighborhood. Nice water toys provided - kayaks and paddle boards. While the motor on the dock helped with algae some, not the best location for swimming or just relaxing in the water by the house. Other than that house is just as described in the listing!- Alyssa F , Posted: 9/3/2024Hi Alyssa! Thank you for the review. :). Unfortunately looks like during your stay more duckweed came around than usual. Looks like algae. I also think some algae was around too. Duckweed is safe though. The weed motor has been working great all summer but we will consider more ideas to keep pushing all of that along the way past the house. Hope to have you back, you were great guests! :)- Finger Lakes Vacation Cottages staff, Posted:
My family of 9 had a great stay at Shaun's place! The house is clean, modern and comfortable, and we practically lived in the screened in porch overlooking the lake. LOVED that there was a telescope that helped us view the meteor showers that week from the top deck-- even on a typical night, stargazing was tremendous because there was no light pollution. Several of us enjoyed using the kayaks and canoes on site, my nephew discovered fishing and spent half of the week out on the dock, and we enjoyed renting a pontoon boat from Smith Boys (just across the lake) for swimming and tubing one day. Shaun and Suzie were very gracious and responsive hosts-- we appreciated all of the information they provided throughout our stay.- Sarah H , Posted: 8/27/2024
This home is beautiful! When we arrived it was super clean! Surroundings are beautiful. Very peaceful and relaxing time was had by all!- Kathryn M , Posted: 7/18/2024
Shaun and Mike were great. Shaun was regularly in touch with us about the house and he was quick to respond when there was anything I needed. Mike even brought us cookies before we left. Very personal touch. The property was spacious with plenty of beds for 13 people. It was lakeside and we even rented a boat for a few days and were easily able to pull up to the dock on the property. A number of my family members fished off the dock regularly. I brought my road bike and was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful roads and surrounding countryside to exercise and cycle. It turns it that the area has a very active cycling community. The supermarket was about 30 minutes away, at the north end of the lake. While that may be inconvenient for some, it gave us the chance to grab some great ice-cream at Scoops for the family everyday and it became a nice little daily tradition. The property was very homey, and had all the amenities anyone would need to enjoy a week by the lake.- Jason M , Posted: 7/14/2024
We had an amazing time at this house. The place was spacious. The screened in patio was awesome use for meals and not have to worry about bugs. The dock was a great place to fish, there was plenty of water sports gear to enjoy the lake. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We had a great time together at this house.- Liz P , Posted: 7/2/2024
Had an excellent stay Shaun was responsive and helpful!!! Would highly recommend staying here!!- Kaleigh M , Posted: 6/16/2024
Such an amazing place and the host is very responsive and helpful! Would 100% stay here again and recommend to others!- Abigail A , Posted: 6/9/2024
We had an amazing stay! Comfortably fit 12 girls to celebrate my best friends Bachelorette and we had a blast. The kitchen was perfect for cooking big meals, came stocked with supplies, both porches were perfect for relaxing while overlooking the lake, all the beds were comfortable, and we were so graciously welcomed with amazing cookies and a gift for the bride. We highly recommend for anyone considering and are so grateful for all of the fabulous recommendations.- Ellie S , Posted: 5/27/2024
Beautiful house right on the water!! Plenty of space- very clean modern bathrooms and kitchen. The two decks were great place to hang out on.- Megan C , Posted: 4/14/2024
Amazing stay!- Lizzy S , Posted: 4/7/2024
We were a group of girls celebrating a bride and we had a lovely stay while visiting wineries. The view of the lake was beautiful!! We arrived to a few inches of snow that made it even more beautiful. Beds were comfortable, common areas allowed for us to gather and hang out and the deck was a nice place to hang out around the propane fireplace in the evening. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals during our stay. Would be a great place in the summer for kayaking and paddle boarding on the lake.- Betsy S , Posted: 3/28/2024
This house was very amazing . Shaun was a fantastic host that answered a thousand of my questions . Thank you for everything you have done and for making my experience very fun and magical .- Essence K , Posted: 1/1/2024
it's a beautiful lake house and great kitchen. we spent the mornings on the lake and then created a feast for dinner. we also went into town and tried the wineries and breweries. You have to try a grape pie.- Adam M , Posted: 10/25/2023
A beautiful home m, met all our needs and we had a wonderful weekend!- Ali P , Posted: 10/15/2023
Tranquility Cottage is a wonderful place to stay! The location is beautiful and the house feels like a home away from home! The home was spacious for our large group, very clean, and had great amenities. Shaun was very responsive and helpful when I reached out. 10/10 would recommend!- Megan B , Posted: 10/8/2023
We spent a long weekend at the lakehouse celebrating my upcoming wedding and had an absolute blast! Great location, beautiful home, and the host was incredibly responsive! Overall a wonderful time and would definitely stay there again!- Ellen S , Posted: 9/17/2023
We enjoyed our time at the lake. Shaun & Suzie were great hosts. The house was modern, yet cozy. The space accommodated our family with plenty of sleeping options & places to relax. The outdoor water supplies were great, games & books were a bonus. The kitchen was stocked with everything you’d need to spend a week away from home. The screened in deck will forever spoil us with a full week outside & ZERO bugs to contend with. The double decks provided both sunbathing & shade options. **My only note is that this is not a location where young children would be able to swim, regardless of the wonderful dock & walkout. The water was full of thick seaweed & duckweed. We had brought a jetski to launch from the boat launch across the lake and hoped to dock it at the house, but was not able to drive it up the the house because the he seaweed was too thick for the engine. Ended up renting a boat from across the lake to be able to enjoy the water and the wonderful views from around the lake.- Regina M , Posted: 8/31/2023Hi Regina! Thank you for enjoying your stay! :). We are processing of testing weed mats for sea weed and a barrier for duck weed. We will share results on this site too! Have a great day! Shaun Hayes- Finger Lakes Vacation Cottages staff, Posted:
We had a great week at Tranquility Cottage on our family vacation with 4 couples and 5 kids ranging in age from 15 years old to 9 months. This peaceful lake house is large enough for a big group and the new renovations are awesome. A few highlights included kayaking and paddle boarding, renting a pontoon boat from Smith Boys marina, shopping and eating in Naples, and playing golf at Reservoir Creek. The kids especially loved the Foosball table in the basement at night time and parents spent a lot of time on the screened in porch around the gas fire pit. We would definitely do it all over again!- Graham D , Posted: 8/19/2023
We thoroughly enjoyed our week vacation! Quiet at end of the lake. Hiking paths nearby we took advantage of. The house was clean, open and plenty of room for the 13 of us. The multiple decks allowed for sitting in sun, or out of sun in screened in area. The large tables allowed us all to eat together, which we enjoyed. Sunsets were gorgeous! There was a bit of seaweed and duckweed on our waterfront (not unusual), but with all of the kayaks, paddle boards, life jackets and inflatable raft, we adventured out to deeper water to swim and play! Shaun was very responsive when we reached out to him. We hope to stay here again!!- Donna F , Posted: 7/24/2023
Shaun is a fantastic host, and was always responsive when we had questions. He was also very proactive by letting us know when the door lock was running low on batteries and how to replace them, and when we lost power during a storm he immediately sent us the update from the utility company letting us know when we should expect power to be restored. We stayed for a week in July with 5 adults and 3 children all 3 & under. There was plenty of space on 2 floors so we never felt cramped. Both patios felt very modern. The fully screened in first floor patio was great for the kids (they couldn't throw their toys off the side!) and for dinners that were uninterrupted by bugs. The second floor was perfect for laying out in the sun and for stargazing at night (there was even a telescope!). The area was very quiet and peaceful. The water had a good deal of algae (which I know is not always the case) and weeds, which made swimming somewhat less enjoyable, but overall a beautiful home and area!- Michael H , Posted: 7/18/2023Thank you Michael for wonderful review! In this area of Canandaigua Lake there is more duckweed than algae most often. Duckweed can have a resemblance to algae but there’s a difference that is makes it more comfortable to go in water when present. This is what duckweed is and why it’s harmless. Duckweed and algae are both types of aquatic plants but they belong to different taxonomic groups and exhibit distinct characteristics. Here are the main differences between duckweed and algae. Taxonomy: Duckweed is a type of flowering plant that belongs to the Lemnaceae family, while algae are a diverse group of photosynthetic organisms that include various types such as green algae, red algae, brown algae, and diatoms. Structure: Duckweed typically consists of small, floating, oval-shaped leaves called fronds that are connected by thin stems. Algae, on the other hand, can exhibit a wide range of structures depending on the specific type. Some algae are unicellular, while others form colonies, filaments, or larger seaweed-like formations. Photosynthesis: Both duckweed and algae are photosynthetic, but they utilize different pigments for capturing sunlight. Duckweed contains chlorophyll a and b, which give it a green color similar to land plants. Algae, however, can have different combinations of pigments, such as chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyll c, carotenoids, and phycobilins, resulting in a wider range of colors like green, red, brown, or golden. Habitats: Duckweed is often found floating on still or slow-moving freshwater bodies, such as ponds, lakes, and marshes. It prefers nutrient-rich environments. Algae, on the other hand, can be found in various aquatic habitats, including freshwater, marine, and even damp terrestrial environments like tree trunks, rocks, or moist soil. Ecological Roles: Duckweed serves as a food source and habitat for small aquatic organisms, such as insects, snails, and fish. It can also help in nutrient removal and water purification. Algae play a crucial role in aquatic ecosystems as primary producers, providing oxygen and serving as the base of the food chain. Some algae species can also form harmful algal blooms under certain conditions, which can negatively impact water quality and aquatic life. While duckweed and algae differ in several aspects, they both play important roles in their respective ecosystems and contribute to the overall balance and functioning of aquatic environments. I should have had this information at property and will do soon. Thank you again and hope to have you as guests again!- Finger Lakes Vacation Cottages staff, Posted:
Shaun is an excellent host. He is easy to work with and very communicative but also leaves his guests alone to enjoy their vacation. The home itself is nice, clean and has what you need to be comfortable. There is quite a bit of algae and seaweed at this end of the lake, more than we expected which hindered our ability to swim (I don't recall this in the original posting so perhaps it is not always this way). Decks are a great feature to the house and were we spent most of our time.- Lauren S , Posted: 7/9/2023Hi Lauren! Thank you for the input. Algae on these lakes are definitely not fun and unfortunately difficult to predict if there will be any and for how long. Seaweed is something we are working on. We are getting either a weed cutting system or weed mats to block growth. Hope to have you again! :). Shaun Hayes- Finger Lakes Vacation Cottages staff, Posted:
My family and I had a great stay! Just about everything was provided, making it easy to just show up. We had a wonderful time on the water and rented a pontoon from across the lake. Fishing off the dock was my son’s favorite and s’mores by the fire was a close second. Everyone commented on how beautifully the house was decorated. It definitely gave lakefront vibes. Thanks for having us :)- Maria F , Posted: 6/30/2023
This house was incredible. We had a Bachelorette Party of 10 girls and we could not have had a better house. The space was perfect. There was privacy. The neighbor was very nice and Shaun, our host, was absolutely amazing. Any time I contacted Shaun, with any questions about the property, he immediately responded. If he didn't have an answer right away, he would respond, let me know he was looking into it, and got back to me ASAP. There was another party a few doors down and he had heard about it, called while we were there to confirm that they were not bothering us. I have nothing but the best things to say about this rental and would recommend to anyone who is looking to get away on Canandaigua Lake!- Nicole R , Posted: 6/5/2023
Beautiful house to stay in with friends and family. There are lots to beds to accommodate a large group. The house is decorated beautifully. They think of everything for your stay. Loved the house.- Natalie C , Posted: 5/22/2023
We stayed here with a group of 13 and there was plenty of room for everyone. They had a canoe, paddles boards, a kayak. The house is gorgeous. Peaceful. Neighbors were very nice. The enclosed porch was so nice to hang out late and night and keep you protected from bugs. It was spotless when we arrived and the kitchen was fully equipped. The grill and the stone too grill were awesome. Shaun was great host. Quick to respond to any questions! Would recommended for a family trip or a getaway with friends!- Gianna C , Posted: 5/15/2023
This was a fantastic stay from start to finish!! Shaun was a great host, he was very communicative the whole time if we had any questions and responded right away. He was very accommodating to our group, and we had a great time! The place itself was stunning, we couldn’t stop talking about how we wanted to come back during a summer month to enjoy the lake more! We had plenty of comfortable sleeping situations for our group of 13 women. I couldn’t ask for a better Airbnb experience, we had a great time!- Cristina G , Posted: 4/30/2023
Shaun was attentive, kind, and even funny. He responded very fast and made the check in process easy. He provided information on local events (e.g., live music at Brew and Brats) and fun things to do. The house was BEAUTIFUL and the area was quiet. We loved the eco-theme of the house. Talking to our kids about conserving water was a great life lesson that we so clearly take for granted in our normal busy lives. Our family took the opportunity to unplug from the hustle of the daily grind and our devices and just admire being so close to nature. The view from almost every window was stunning. You feel like you’re staying on top of the water. The sunset was literally jaw-dropping. We saw bald eagles more than once over the course of the weekend, amazing! We hiked at Grimes Glen which was a short 10 minutes down the road in the darling village of Naples. Check out the School House café and their famous Grape Festival in the fall! Our family loved this trip! Thank you Shaun!!- Margaret S , Posted: 4/26/2023
We had a fantastic girls family weekend at this home. It was clean and had everything we could have needed and more… bonus of AC and extra phone chargers! It was perfect being right on the water and we lucked out with fantastic weather. You can’t beat the view. The double porches and especially, one being screened in was wonderful. There is a septic system, so if you’re not used to that, it may be an adjustment, but worth it! Check-in and check-out processes went smoothly. Sean was extremely helpful and personable. He made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay there again!- Maria P , Posted: 4/16/2023
Our family stayed at Tranquility Cottage and we loved it! The cottage is all brand new, I well-appointed, and stylish. There are various entertainment areas all with a postcard perfect view of the serene lake. The open floorplan made it very family friendly. The lower screen porch and the upstairs open air deck were both heavily used by our family. The enclosed outdoor shower was a fun surprise! The location was handy for activities as well. I would highly recommend it!- Susan M , Posted: 3/22/2023
The stay was amazing. Everything was perfect and the host provided all essentials, blankets, utensils, etc. We were in the winter time, but even with the cold weather, there was tons to do. The house is clean, there's plenty of parking, and the host is incredibly nice and accommodating, I definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking to have a relaxing getaway with beautiful lake views!!- Suzie H , Posted: 3/18/2023
